  • Mental health counseling offers a supportive space for children to process, play, learn, and grow as well as help adolescents navigate the complex journey to adulthood.

    Seaside Counseling and Wellness Center's primary approach to counseling for children ages 7-12 is play therapy, where kids can express themselves in their primary mode of communication: play. Additionally, we specialize in connecting with teens to help them process emotions, overcome challenges, and develop healthy coping skills.

    Common areas addressed in children and adolescent counseling include:

  • Telemental health is the distribution of health-related services and information via electronic information and telecommunication technologies, permitting real-time, secure communication. Telemental health psychotherapy allows patients to get help without seeing a therapist in person.

    At Seaside Counseling and Wellness Center, you can do an online therapy session from the privacy of your own home or anywhere you have an internet connection in North Carolina. With our online telehealth psychotherapy services, you can talk with a therapist from your desktop, laptop, smartphone, or tablet.

  • Yoga

    Yoga is a practice that connects the body, breath, and mind. It uses posture work, breathing exercises, and meditation to improve overall health. Research shows that many people find yoga beneficial to their mental health. In particular, it can be very effective in managing symptoms of anxiety and depression when practiced regularly and alongside other treatments.

    Meditation (Mindfulness)

    Mindfulness is a meditation technique you can learn which involves noticing what is happening in the present moment, without judgement. It aims to help you improve self-awareness and cope better with difficult thoughts and feelings. Many people also use it alongside other treatments as a way of managing their mental health, stress, anxiety, and well-being more generally.

    Aromatherapy

    Aromatherapy uses essential oils (oils extracted from plants) for healing. Some people use essential oils themselves, or products with essential oils such as candles. Different essential oils are thought to be useful for different experiences such as lavender oil is commonly used for relaxation and sleep. 

    Weighted Blankets

    Weighted blankets are blankets that are lined or made with heavy materials, such as metal. They are used to apply deep pressure to the person wearing it. Studies on weighted blankets for anxiety are relatively new but, they are positive. Many people find them helpful in managing their anxiety symptoms or panic attacks.
